Travel Ireland with your dog
Travel Ireland with your dog
Hi, I’m Dexter and there is nothing I like more than exploring new places. With the help of my human, who is also my chauffeur, I am planning on travelling around Ireland and exploring this beautiful island. So, we thought we would share our adventures and give some reviews of the places we encounter along the way.
Not wanting to leave Dexter behind and wanting to travel, I soon discovered, as a solo traveler, it was not always that easy. I have met many people who just don’t want to have a weekend away just because of this reason. Not all places are dog friendly, and some have restrictions, which can made travelling more challenging. I hope that by sharing my experiences and others, that having a pet isn’t a life restriction. So, if like me you find yourself in a beautiful place only wishing that your furry friend was with you then some of the information provided will help everyone enjoy a weekend away.
We provide honest and unbiased reviews of destinations, accommodations, and activities. We also offer practical tips and advice to help you make the most of your trip. Plus, our community of travelers is always ready to share their own insights and recommendations.

For all those Game of Thrones fans, this is a must see. However for a dog it’s just another walk. The road is meant to be closed to traffic but there is still the occasional car and plenty of tourists so not really a place to run free. Great for a photo opportunity and there are facilities available if you are travelling with more than one human as unfortunately they are not dog friendly but there is an outside seating area.

I will do my best to get back to you soon!
This park is definitely one of our favourite places. Firstly, its location is extremely convenient, especially if travelling West/East on the M1 in Northern Ireland. It is minutes from the exit, yet it is like a different world once in the park. There is plenty of parking, so plenty of space to do Dexters post walk routine of grabbing a drink and have a towelling (so his thing as he now won’t get into the car till it’s done – even if he is bone dry to start with).
The park has human toilets facilities (opening hours apply) and on busy days there is a coffee/ice cream cart for a well-deserved treat.
There are several walks with a variety of tarmac, gravel, wood chips and board walks.
Unfortunately, there is only one small freshwater river towards the back of the park, the rest is lakes or bog so any water loving dogs may have to be controlled as the bogs can be deep and dangerous. For those dogs that do as their told, this is a beautiful place to be off leash and enjoy a good free roam or run.
There is a lovely children’s play area (no dogs allowed) but there are benches nearby for our four-legged friends to watch their small human family at play.
This park is a glorious place for humans and dogs to enjoy various lengths of walks, with plenty of bins throughout so you do not need to carry any poop bags for long.
The walks are clearly marked with maps and information boards along the way, so you won’t get lost, and you might even learn a few things.
The gates are open at set times, but the exit gate is always so if you drive into the park do not fret about being locked in.
We highly recommend stopping in and taking in the joys of this well-maintained park.
